With the end of November, we finished up our Biologist Badge challenge with a visit from the Ocean Explorium who brought us some live animals and taught us about taxonomy and food webs.
One of our awesome moms helped explain food webs to the kids before they tried their hands at making their own. The kids were given some examples of food webs to look at if they needed help to create their own diagram.
Here are a couple of neat online food web activities that you can use to teach or reinforce the idea of food webs with your child, club or classroom:
Scholastic Forest food web (has questions and printable certificate)
Cool Classroom Ocean food web (more challenging)

The visit from the Ocean Explorium was really fantastic. He showed us lots of different kinds of animals, explained how they live, move and eat. The presenter was excellent and answered lots of questions about the animals.
